Celebrating our UNESCO World Heritage Sites

12 July 2015

New Zealand’s unique geography and location has allowed for some truly beautiful and unique natural wonders to develop over time. These areas are recognised by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Sites as locations with cultural and/ or national significance and we celebrate them in this scenic six stamp issue.

“We worked closely with UNESCO when developing this issue and we’re very pleased with how it has turned out,” said Simon Allison, New Zealand Post Head of Stamps and Coins, “These vibrant stamps are a great way to raise awareness about these sites and would make a great addition to any New Zealand stamp collection.”

The six stamps in this beautiful photographic issue feature two locations from each of these picturesque sites - the Emerald Lakes, Franz Josef Glacier, Enderby Island, Mount Ngauruhoe, Lake MacKenzie and Campbell Island. The Limited Edition contains in-depth information about these sites, written by Lou Sanson, Director-General of the Department of Conservation.

The stamp issue includes six stamps, a miniature sheet, a first day cover, a miniature sheet first day cover, a presentation pack and a Limited Edition. The issue is available for purchase from 5 August 2015 at all New Zealand Post Shops.

Pre-orders are being taken now through the Whanganui Collectables and Solutions Centre or online at nzpost.co.nz/stamps
