New Zealand Post backs the boys in black with new stamp issue

3 August 2015

2015 is the year in which the All Blacks will attempt to reclaim the title of Rugby World Cup champions. To recognise this significant moment in New Zealand’s sporting history, we’ve worked with New Zealand Rugby and its partner, adidas, to bring you a special stamp and coin that epitomises the very essence of being part of the All Blacks - the jersey.

This innovative, world-first stamp and coin depicts the iconic All Blacks jersey as never seen before - as an official stamp and legal tender coin. The stamp contains official fabric from the 2015 All Blacks Home Replica Jersey supplied by adidas, while the coin is a rugby jersey shape. Both are officially licensed All Blacks products.

“The stamp and coin are a unique way for fans to show their support for the All Blacks,” said Simon Allison, Head of Stamps and Coins at New Zealand Post.

“With this issue, we wanted something unique to support the boys in black, and at the same time capture the pride and mana that comes with being part of the All Blacks. The black jersey is not just a uniform – it’s an internationally recognised symbol of New Zealand and our national rugby team.”

The fabric has been printed on with precision to include the All Blacks, adidas and AIG logos, and then die-cut to replicate the real jersey worn on the field. The jersey is applied to gummed stamp paper, with the complete design replicating a framed jersey.

The stamp and coin was designed by renowned New Zealand artist Dave Burke. The issue includes a stamp in a collectable pack, first day cover and a 1oz silver proof coin.

The issue is available for purchase from 2 September 2015 at New Zealand PostShops. Pre-orders are being taken now through the Whanganui Collectables and Solutions Centre or online at
