Different types of stamps

There are lots of different types of stamps that you could choose to collect. Read the information below to find out all about them.


Definitive stamps are the ones most commonly used on mail and are issued specifically for everyday postage. These stamps can remain on sale for many years. To view Definitive stamps, click here.


A Commemorative stamp is issued to mark an important event, a special person, an achievement or an anniversary. As well as special commemorative stamps such as the '100 Years of Surf Life Saving' stamp issue, New Zealand Post also issues certain commemorative stamps every year. These are called Annual stamp issues, and include Health, Ross Dependency, Chinese New Year, Game Bird Habitat and Christmas. To view Commemorative stamps, click here.

Personalised stamps

Personalised Stamps allow you to make your very own stamps with your own photo or image! All you need to do is upload your image and then choose one of the fun stamp designs.
