1954 Health

Several requests were received for subjects to depict on the 1954 Health stamp issue - Centenary of the YMCA, Girls Life Brigade and the conquest of Everest, in which a New Zealander had played such a conspicuous part.

Issue information

Eight artists submitted 18 designs and a submission by James Berry depicting a young tramper was selected for inclusion on the stamps. The proceeds of the 'Health' value of these 1954 Health stamps was donated to the Children's Health Camps movement.
