Single 3c 'Old Master' gummed stamp.

Tempi Madonna by Raphael. Raphael was born on 6 April 1483, and was famed initially for his portraiture. It was not until the 19th century that his Madonnas found equal stature. It was in his formative years in Perugia and Florence that Raphael painted the Tempi, one of the last known works of the Florentine period. This work belonged to the Tempi family from whom it was acquired in 1821 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria for 16,000 scudi. Today it hangs in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich.
