Our 2018 Scenic Definitives stamp issue highlights a selection of New Zealand's unique lakes, mountains, beaches and stunning natural structures.
Issue information
With this year's Scenic Definitives we showcase the ever-popular holiday destination Mount Maunganui, Lake Te Anau which is nestled in the beautiful Fiordland National Park in the South Island, and we're delighted to re-issue Taranaki's coastal treasure, Tongaporutu.
While New Zealand Post has worked hard to keep postage rates as low as possible, an annual decline in mail volumes has resulted in a review of the costs of our products and services. From 1 July 2018 the cost of sending a medium letter will increase from $1.00 to $1.20, a large letter from $2.00 to $2.40 and an oversize letter from $3.00 to $3.60. Please note: the FastPost service was discontinued on 1 January 2018.
Individual Stamps:
$2.40 Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
Fondly dubbed 'The Mount'. This popular holiday destination is loved for its white sandy surf beach oceanside, sheltered bay harbour side, and a choice of walks up and around the peninsula's distinctive peak - Mauao - offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.
$3.00 Tongaporutu, Taranaki
The Tongaporutu area, north of New Plymouth, is one of the country’s best-kept secrets. Known for the Three Sisters rock formations, it also boasts ancient caves decorated with historic Māori petroglyphs, sheer cliff faces and a vast black iron-sand surf beach.
$4.40 Lake Te Anau, Fiordland
The largest body of water in the South Island, second only to Lake Taupō, Lake Te Anau sits nestled amongst the stunning Mt Luxmore and Murchison mountains in Fiordland National Park.
First Day Cover
Capture another of New Zealand's stunning natural highlights with this first day cover, featuring the beautiful Giants Gate Falls on the Milford track in Fiordland. It features two gummed stamps and two self-adhesive stamps.
