In near-impossible conditions, the New Zealand Expeditionary Force took part in the Gallipoli campaign alongside our Australian neighbours. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) was formed and the spirit of Anzac lives on today.

The Australian coin features the Lone Pine and headstones of many whose lives were lost; the British coin features a map of the nautical position of Gallipoli with boats coming ashore; and the Turkish coin features a dove and olive branch as well as the Gallipoli coastline.
